£450Toscana Naturale Alto Boot
This was a pet project of David & mine -- to make an Alto Boot using a 100% vegetable tanned & undyed leather. This leather comes from a very specific tannery in Tuscany, which, since 1946, over four generations, has specialized exclusively in vegetable tanning using artisanal techniques with a deep commitment to premium quality & ecological sustainability. The result of their efforts is leather hides that are highly coveted in the shoe industry and produced in limited quantities: milled for softness, unblemished and beautiful, and created using only natural ingredients. As such, these Alto Boots will turn a beautiful golden brown with wear and exposure to sunlight and the elements. They'll form to your feet like a glove. And, with a touch of care, these boots will last a lifetime. Enjoy.

made in
- Handmade in Monte San Giusto, Italy in a small, family-owned, workshop using an artisanal stitchdown construction.
Care
- To best care for your veg tanned leather, lightly brush off any debris or dirt on the surface with a soft & lightly damp cloth. Apply leather cleaner and conditioner, in that order, to keep your pair healthy & to encourage that beautiful patina. As this leather is quite light in tone at the start, you can expect any environmental markings to fade & blend as the pair darkens in color. Avoid heat drying or applying any solvents that contain alcohol as that can damage the material.
dealer's notes
- Our leathers are naturally dyed. Color may vary from pair to pair & from what you see online.
Size & Fit
- Our Alto Boots run true to size as suggested on our size chart or within the dropdown size menu.
Edizione Speciale: Toscana Naturale

Your Questions Answered
How do I determine my proper size?
All of our styles are true to size; however, each unique silhouette differs numerically.
You can expect to take a different sizeway for Sabahs, Turkish made backless Babas, & El Paso made Babas. You can view the exact style type on the relevant product page.
We recommend selecting the numerical size that directly corresponds to your typical EUR/US shoe size in the drop down menu on each specific product page.
We certainly understand that juggling various numbers, sizes, & fits can feel daunting at first, so please do not hesitate to drop us a line for guidance & support!
How should my pair fit?
For an ideal fit, your Sabahs should initially feel quite snug as they are made entirely of natural leather and will stretch and form to your feet with wear.
Your toes should touch the end of the pair with some pressure; however, they should not be curling.
It typically takes 3-5 good wears for your Sabahs to begin notably stretching & relaxing throughout.
Why do Sabahs & Babas differ in numerical fit?
Our Sabahs (full shoe) and Babas (backless slide) fit differently as denoted on the sizing chart on each product page.
For Turkish made Babas, we recommend selecting +1 numerical size in from your ideal fit in Sabahs.
Please, also note - There is a sizing difference between our Turkish made & El Paso Made Babas.
There are El Paso specific sizing charts on the relevant product pages.
Can I return my pair for refund, credit, or an exchange?
Of course!
We happily accept all returns on NEW & UNWORN Sabahs & Babas. Please, visit our Returns page for more information & to initiate a request.
We also offer FREE returns for new & unworn orders placed in the US within 30 days of receipt.
Can I resole my Sabahs?
Yes -- the rubber outsoles on your Sabahs protect the traditional leather sole underneath, and they can easily be replaced by any cobbler. You should pay attention to the rubber soles, particularly around the heel, to make sure they do not wear away before being replaced. This can expose the leather sole and result in damage. We recommend seeking service within 12-24 months of wear, as needed.
Our Backless Babas do not include a set of rubber outsoles & are not able to be resoled. However, you can (and should!) still wear them out & about just like a pair of Sabahs. The Babas outsoles are extremely durable.
For any resole & maintenance related questions, please consult your local cobbler or email us at portal@sabah.am.
What is the protective outsole made of?
The rubber that we use for the outsoles of our Sabahs is Thermoplastic Rubber (TPR). We use this soft and thin rubber as to not impede the leather sole from forming to your feet.
Some of the salient features exhibited by TPR include flexibility, good tear resistance, reusability, recyclability, and good abrasion resistance.
These outsoles are added to every pair of Sabahs with a combination of heat, glue and pressure, and are intended to protect the stitching and true soles underneath.
How do I care for my Sabahs?
To best care for your Sabahs, we suggest you clean them as they get dirty and condition them periodically, or as they appear dry, with a high quality leather conditioner.
We produce our own Sabah leather conditioner & cleaner, which you can find on the Sabah Market page. Cleaning and conditioning your pair will help maintain the texture and beauty of the leather.
SUEDE/NUBUCK:
You should avoid applying topical products to suede or nubuck -- doing so will disrupt the fibers and matte the suede. Use a brush to care for your suede or nubuck Sabahs. We highly recommend consulting a local cobbler if your suede or nubuck Sabahs require cleaning/conditioning.
For any unique cleaning & care questions, we advise connecting with your cobbler or sending us an email at portal@sabah.am.
